Biographical notes:

Letters to George W. Morrell of Boston and a member of the Board of Directors of the Vermilion Coal Company in Streator, Ill. re: business of the mine. The majority of the letters are from Ralph Plumb, secretary-treasurer of the company and later mayor of Streator and U.S. Congressman and W.S Streator, a physician and a state senator in Ohio. Streator established the Vermilion Company and was its first President. Streator which had originally been called Unionville, changed its name to honor him. One letter from Morrell to Streator.
