Robert Thompson (1812-1860) was a businessman and politician.

Robert Thompson (1809- ) was born in Ireland. He settled a claim in the Oregon Territory in April of 1850 which he eventually relinquished to Captain John H. Couch (1811-1870), one of the founders of the city of Portland. Thompson settled another claim in April of 1852. Source: http://www.couchgenweb.com/couch/orcouch.htm
