Biographical notes:
In 1931, during the worst period of the Great Depression, E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. established an Economist's Office and hired the Harvard-trained economist Edmond Earl Lincoln (1888-1958) to head the department. Lincoln was responsible for macroeconomic forecasting and advising the head of the Service Department, who was responsible for labor management relations, on wage scales and other industrial relations issues.
