Native Texan, historian, and Lieutenant Colonel Harry McCorry Henderson retired from the U. S. Army in 1945 after 28 years of infantry service and devoted himself to researching Texas history, particularly military history. He published several books, including History of the 141st Infantry, 36th Infantry Division, Texas National Guard (1950) Colonel Jack Hays, Texas Ranger (1954), Hood’s Texas Brigade (1955), and Texas In The Confederacy (1955). A member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas and the Texas Historical Association, Henderson also contributed articles to Southwestern Historical Quarterly .
