Kezia Giles Carroll was born in Broxholm, England on May 20, 1840. She was baptized into the Mormon Church in 1853 and in the following year she and her family made their way to the United States. After a six week voyage over the Atlantic, they arrived in New Orleans, Louisiana. It was not until the year of 1856 that they found themselves in Utah where they settled in Provo. In 1857 Kezia married Charles Negus Carroll and shortly thereafter went with him to help settle Heber City. By 1878 they would move again, this time to join the United Order in Orderville.

Charles Negus Carroll, the third son of Patrick O'Carroll and Ann Negus, was born on Dec. 7, 1817 in the province of New Brunswick, Canada. As a farmer in Canterbury, New Hamshire he married Lucy Elizabeth McInelly in 1847. He and his wife were baptized into the Mormon Church in 1853. The following year they were called to settle in Utah. On the trip Carroll lost his wife and three of his children to cholera. In 1856 he moved from Salt Lake City to Provo and married Kezia Giles. After living in Heber City, Carroll and his family joined the United Order of Orderville in 1878.
