Le Roy Reuben Hafen (1893-1985) was the state historian at the State Historical Society of Colorado for 30 years. Author of numerous articles and books on the history of the American West, Hafen edited two series of books on the Far West and the Rockies and also a ten-volume collection titled, The mountain men and the fur trade of the Far West (1965-72).
