"In April 1984 the Vermont Division for Historic Preservation authorized the Consulting Archaeology Program, Dept. of Anthropology, University of Vermont to conduct an archaeological reconnaissance survey at the Chimney Point Tavern site, Addison, Vt. The purpose of this survey was to complete a preliminary reconnaissance evaluation of historic and prehistoric archaeological site areas within the property that might be eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places".
