Biographical notes:

The Mid-Atlantic, or Philadelphia, Branch of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America was founded in 1886 or 1887 as a fund raising arm for the Seminary in New York. In 1944 the Branch joined with a number of other Philadelphia Jewish organizations to establish a central fund-raising office.
