Biographical notes:

Bailey (1884-1967) was educated at Harvard University (A.B. 1907; A.M. 1909) and, as a botanist, was associated with Harvard for most of his career -- first at the Bussey Institution and later at the Arnold Arboretum and the Gray Herbarium.
