Biographical note: Isaac D. White was commissioned in 1922 as a second lieutenant in the United States Cavalry. He was assigned to the First Cavalry at Fort Knox, Kentucky and graduated from the Command and General Staff School at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He later transferred to the Second Armored Division. During World War II, White joined the Western Task Force, commanded by General George S. Patton, landed at Safi in French Morocco (1942), and served in the Italian campaign. He was made brigadier general in 1944, and was active throughout Europe. In 1945, White became the commanding general of the Second Armored Division and was promoted to major general. He became commanding general of the United States Constabulary in Germany. He served in the X Corps during the Korean War, was commander of the Fourth Army in the Far East, and was commander-in-chief of the Army in the Pacific. General White retired in 1961.

Isaac Davis White (b. March 6, 1901, Peterborough, New Hampshire-d. June 11, 1990), U.S. Army officer, was commissioned in the cavalry after graduating from university in 1922. During World War II he served with the 2nd Armored Division as commander of a battalion and regiment, and as commanding general. After the War he served as deputy commanding general, 7th Army; chief of staff, 1st Army; commanding general, X Corps; commanding general, 4th Army; commander in chief, U.N. Command Korea; and commander in chief, U.S. Army Pacific, until his retirement in 1961.
