The Texas Bleeding Disorders Advisory Council was established in 2007 (Senate Bill 1566, 80th Texas Legislature, Regular Session).The duties of the council are to study and advise the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), Texas Department of Insurance (TDI), and the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) on public use data, outcome data, and other information submitted to or collected by DSHS related to hemophilia or other bleeding or clotting disorders; the department’s disclosure and dissemination of that information within and outside DSHS; and other issues that affect the health and wellness of persons living with hemophilia or other bleeding or clotting disorders. The Commissioner of State Health Services and the Commissioner of Insurance have jointly appointed members to the Texas Bleeding Disorders Advisory Council. The council is planned to be abolished September 1, 2015 (SB 156, 82nd Legislature, Regular Session, 2011).
