Biographical notes:

Lemuel P. Jenks, the son of the Rev. William Jenks of Boston, Mass, was a patent solicitor in Boston. At one time he was a general commission and forwarding merchant in New Orleans. He also lived in Baltimore, possibly from 1852 to 1854. In addition to his interest in inventions, he was concerned with copper and chrome mining and saltpetre manufacturing.
