Burgess family

Biographical notes:

Edward Guyre Burgess (1848-1919) was a grain merchant who lived and worked in both Montclair, New Jersey and New York, N.Y. and served as president of the New York Produce Exchange in 1902. He pursued his family genealogy as an avocation, tracing his lineage to 17th-century England through the Burgess and allied Winslow, Crosby, Cole and Robblee families.

From the guide to the Burgess family genealogical research papers, 1880-1910, (The New York Public Library. Manuscripts and Archives Division.)
