Biographical notes:
Ichabod Codding, a Congregational minister, was active in the anti-slavery movement. He was born in New York, and attended Middlebury College. He moved to the midwest in 1842, and was involved in politics in Illinois.

A Congregational minister, Codding served churches in Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa. He and his wife Hannah Maria Preston Codding had 4 children.
