Biographical notes:

(For history of the Lutheran Council in the USA (LCUSA), see OCLC #38922091.) In 1969, the LCUSA established the Consultation on Inter-Lutheran Cooperation to prepare a report and recommendations to the LCUSA Executive Committee concerning goals of and steps toward inter-Lutheran cooperation. Comprised of representatives of the LCUSA participating church bodies and LCUSA staff, the Consultation held nine sessions over the course of three years and produced documents on Lutheran cooperation, the changing role of church bodies, the local Lutheran council movement, and Lutheran unity. The LCUSA was terminated in 1987 at the founding of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
