Burstein, Herbert, 1915-1983
Biographical notes:
During a 41-year legal career, Mr. Burstein practiced law not only in the United States, but also in Europe, the Middle East and the Far East.
He specialized in corporate mergers, transportation law and labor-management contracts. He also represented the TV Film Producers Association and the Restaurant League of New York.
He served as special counsel for a House investigation of the Securities and Exchange Commission in the Truman Administration.
Mr. Burstein is survived by his wife, Justice Beatrice S. Burstein of State Supreme Court; four daughters, Karen, of Woodmere, president of the State Civil Service Commission; Patricia, of Manhattan; Ellen, of Orlando, Fla., and Jessica, of Manhattan; two sons, John and Judd, both of Manhattan ; ; a brother, Abraham, of New Rochelle and two sisters, Jane Kaper of Coconut, Fla., and Bertha Lebedinsky of Queens, and a grandson, Devin Burstein.
Funeral services were private. A memorial service will be held on Nov. 6 at Temple Israel, Lawrence, L.I.
