Biographical notes:
James Edmund Houstoun and Mary Ann Williamson Houstoun had four children: Mary Williamson Houstoun (1815-1871), John Williamson Houstoun (1817-1861), James Edmund Houstoun, Jr. (1819-1852), and Eliza V. Houstoun (1810-1836) who married Charles Spalding in 1834. After James' death, Mary Ann Williamson Houston married Major Jonathan Thomas. Mossman Houstoun (1786-ca. 1865) was James Edmund Houstoun's brother.
