Birth 1808
Death 1880

Biographical notes:

Jacob Stouffer (1808-1880) was the son of Jacob (1773-1843) and Catherine (Oberholser) Stouffer (1784-1835). The Stouffers, originally from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, eventually moved to Franklin County, where they established the Falling Spring Mill. In 1833 Jacob Stouffer married Eliza Ryder (1809-1880), and the couple had seven children: Elizabeth, Mary, Catherine, Amos, Benjamin, Emma, and Annie. With the help of their children, especially their son Amos, the Stouffers managed the mill and their farm until about 1870, when they left the mill under Amos's management and turned their attention to other recently acquired property in Middlesex. Jacob Stouffer died on May 1, 1880; Eliza died two days later.
