Pearlman, George

Dates:
Active 1891
Active 1975

Biographical notes:

George Pearlman was a retired machinist who became interested in the controversy over who was the "father" of Labor Day: Matthew Maguire, a machinists' union official, or Peter McGuire, a carpenters' union official. After a substantial amount of research, the results of which are documented in this collection, Pearlman concluded that Matthew Maguire was the originator of the holiday.
