Biographical notes:

Corporation of Concord, Mass. Incorporated and organized Mar., 1826; first policy issued May, 1826. First President, Abiel Heywood; Secretary/Treasurer, Nathan Brooks (who held position for 37 years, from 1826); Directors, Samuel Burr, Josiah Davis, John Keyes, Daniel Shattuck, etc. Company's business was first conducted in office of lawyer Nathan Brooks. In 1832, Concord Mill Dam Co. erected Concord Bank building, which then housed bank, insurance company, and Brooks' law office under one roof. Middlesex Mutual Fire Insurance Co. later bought and moved into county courthouse.
