Roberts was an Irish actor at the Abbey Theatre and a publisher at Maunsel and Company. The Abbey Theatre was an Irish theatrical company devoted primarily to indigenous drama, opening its doors in 1904. The Irish National Theatre Society was an Irish theater company that performed at the Abbey Theatre and was co-founded by William Butler Yeats and Lady Augusta Gregory.
