Biographical notes:

Dougher, Rich and Woodburn was an architectural and engineering firm established in Des Moines in 1923. The company specialized in public and semi-public buildings and completed various projects for the Public Works Administration. The firm's principals were James Albert Dougher (1894-1976?), Herbert E. Rich (d. 1949 or 1950) and Chester Charles Woodburn (1893-1960). Dougher and Rich had worked for the architectural firm Proudfoot, Bird and Rawson before entering into a partnership with Woodburn. After Rich's death the firm dissolved and Dougher and Woodburn entered into different partnerships. Successor firms to Dougher, Rich and Woodburn included Dougher, Frevert and Ramsey (1955), Frevert, Ramsey and Drey (1971) and Frevert, Ramsey and Kobes (1982).
