Residents of Columbia and Greenville, S.C.; Washington, D.C.; and Cedar Mountain, N.C.; family members include William Butler (1831-1910), employed as Congressional librarian for U.S. House of Representatives; his sons William (1869-1948) and Raymond Perry (1871-1914), and daughter Priscilla ("Lil") Ransom (1866-1965) and extended family, including U.S. Sen. Matthew Calbraith Butler (1836-1909), and Ransom family of North Carolina; Eugenia Mason Ransom (1837-1876) married William Butler in 1861.
