Biographical notes:
Bess Manker grew up in the territories of Oklahoma, Kansas and Colorado. While living in Topeka, Kansas, she worked at the Oakland Woolen Mills and took a course in stenography. After graduating she went to Syracuse, Kansas where she got a job with George Downer, a lawyer. There she met and married ______ Harrison. After her marriage she devoted her time to her family.
