Biographical notes:
Educator. B.A. from Pacific University, Forest Grove, Oregon (1928). Taught school in Oregon (1930-43). Carried out research for book on 19th century copper mining in California with emphasis on Calaveras, Humboldt and Modoc counties (1944-1968). Transcribed newspaper articles relevant to this work. Also collected information on other topics, notably history Congregational Church in northern California. Assisted by teacher husband, Leroy Dee Smith.
