Laurin Luther Henry (b. 1921, Kankakee, Illinois) was a 1942 graduate of DePauw University. In 1948, he earned his M.A. degree from the University of Chicago, and in 1960, his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. From 1950 to 1955, Henry was a Staff Assistant in the Public Administration Clearing House, Chicago and Washington, D.C. From 1955 to 1964 he was a Research Associate and senior staff member of the Brookings Institute in Washington, D.C., and from 1964 to 1978, he was a Professor of Government and Foreign Affairs at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. From 1978 to 1986, he served as Dean of the School of Community and Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, and from 1986 to 1987, he was a professor at the same university. In 1987, Henry became Professor Emeritus at Virginia Commonwealth University, and from 1988 to 1995, he was a guest scholar at the University of Virginia, and a visiting professor at Johns Hopkins University.
