Frank Hall Knowlton (1960-1926) was an American paleobotanist born on September 2, 1860, in Brandon, Vermont. Knowlton served as a professor at George Washington University from 1887 to 1896, and curator of botany and fossil plants at the United States National Museum from 1887 to 1889. Knowlton worked with the U.S. Geological Survey from 1889 until his death in 1926. Knowlton founded and edited The Plant World. He also authored many articles and books including Birds of the World and Plants of the Past.
