Biographical notes:

Edward J. Copeland, Republican state representative (1967-1970) from the Tenth District, was born in Chicago Il.

Received law degree from Northwestern Law School and admitted to the Illinois bar in 1959. In 1966, elected to the Illinois House of Representatives. During his two terms in office he served on the Education, Insurane, Judiciary, and Public Welfare Committees. Also served as counsel on the Obscenity Laws Study Commission during his first term and was chairman of the Law Practice Study Committee from 1969 to 1970. Received the Best Legislator Award from the Independent Voters of Illinois in 1967 and 1969. After leaving the legislature, Copeland became a partner in the Chicago law firm of Foss, Schuman, and Drake. He was a member of the Illinois Commission on Mental Health from 1971-1974.
