James Earl Price was born on September 3, 1936, in Hinds County, Mississippi. He worked for the Central Illinois Railroad between 1955 and 1968 and for the timber industry thereafter. A member of Hawkins Methodist Church since 1966, Price has served with several state and regional Methodist historical bodies.
