Biographical notes:

William Crooks Pauley, landscape architect, was born 6 July 1893 in Lafayette, Indiana, and died in 1985 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was educated at Purdue University (B.S., 1916) where he majored in agriculture with a specialty in horticulture and the University of Massachusetts (M.L.A., 1918); served in the U.S. Army (1918-1919); and married Frances Emma Freeborn on 24 May 1930. Pauley moved to Atlanta in 1919 and worked as a draftsman for E. Burton Cooke, Landscape Architect. He established his own office in 1922 at the 101 Marietta Street Building in downtown Atlanta. His professional memberships included the Georgia Engineering Society (life member), Atlanta Beautiful Commission, Advisory Board of DeKalb County Parks System, American Society of Landscape Architects, State Examining Board of Landscape Architects and fellow of the American Institute of Park Executives.
