Represented in the collection are Robert Beverley (1769-1843), planter of Essex County, Va.; his son William Bradshaw Beverley (1791- 1866), cotton planter and merchant of Essex County, Va., and Greene County, Ala.; Robert's daughter Maria (Beverley) Clarke and her husband George Clarke (1788?-1822), physician, of Georgetown, D.C.; Maria and George's son, George Rush Clarke (1812-1857), also a physician; and other members of the Beverley family.
