Building 1 of the Varian Associates complex in Palo Alto is an interesting building because it offers an integrated approach to industry and creative research processes. The development of the building is a history of change effected by varied and often conflicting visions. Its architectural appearance, its function, and its situation in environment of industry and business have undergone significant metamorphoses as a result of changes in architectural perception, every day needs, technology, and the land use policies of the area.
