Biographical notes:

Collection compiled by Orrando Perry Dexter, son of Henry and Lucretia Marquand Perry Dexter. He was born in New York City (31 Oct. 1854) and attended private schools in New York and Europe during his boyhood. He entered Phillips Exeter Academy in 1869. He then attended Harvard; then after two years went to Oxford University, where in graduated in 1878 after a four-year course. He entered Columbia Law School and received an L.L.B. degree in 1880. He received an "A.M. from Oxford in 1881 by special convocation". He wrote "The division of angles" and collaborated with Winthrop Hoyt Perry (1854-1920) of Southport, Conn. Perry was shot in the Adirondacks on 19 Sept. 1903.
