Biographical notes:
In 1933 Everett Allen began driving a motorized library (or bookmobile) into remote communities in Perry, Knott, Powell, Wolfe, and Breathitt Counties, that were located near the Homeplace Clinic in Ary, Perry County, Kentucky, . He retired in 1971.
Homeplace was owned and operated by E.O. Robinson Mountain Fund. It began in 1930 as a small rural community center that provided for five basic activities: a working farm and gathering place, homemaking classes, a travelling library (bookmobile), wood-working shops, and a clinic providing medical care.
