Biographical notes:

Leila Avary Terrell ran a boarding house in Auburn, Alabama from 1902 until the mid-1950's. Her daughter Annie graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute, later Auburn University, in 1914. Annie married classmate Cleburne Ammen Basore in 1920 and taught math at A.P.I., 1942-1950. Basore was a professor of chemical engineering at A.P.I., 1920-1963, head of the Dept. of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, 1939-1963, and assistant director of the Engineering Experiment Station, 1937-1960.
