Biographical notes:
This tribunal was established in 1379. It evolved into the highest court of the Papal States, with appelate jurisdiction. The tribunal was made up of the chierici di camera, who all joined together in this tribunal to decide the most important questions. In 1824 added responsibility was assumed from the Tribunale collegiale della Camera apostolica. See the agency history for the Camera.
