Biographical notes:
Born at Pittsburgh, Penn. Moved to Dakota Territory in 1879, left in 1887, returned in 1892, worked for Fargo newspapers. Appointed Secretary of the N.D. Historical Society in 1895. Served as Chief Clerk of the N.D. House in 1923.
