Biographical notes:

Edward Chace Tolman was a professor of psychology at the University of California at Berkeley and president of the American Psychological Association in 1937. Tolman was a prominent experimental and theoretical psychologist with an emphasis on animal behavior. Among other texts he authored "Purposive Behavior in Animals and Men" in 1932.
