Biographical notes:
After World War I, when Base Hospital 21 was demobilized, the unit was renamed General Hospital 2l, Regular Army (Inactive). When the U.S. entered World War II, General Hospital 21 was activated. Lee D. Cady, an instructor in clinical medicine at WUSM, was named unit commander. Like its World War I predecessor, the unit was affiliated with WUSM and Bou Hanifia, Algeria, then at Terme di Agnano, Italy, and finally, at Mirecourt, France. The hospital won the Unit Meritorious Service Award at the end of the war.
