Biographical notes:

Graduate of Catawba College (A. B. 1937) and the University of North Carolina (Ph. D. 1942). Menius was a professor (1949-1981), head of the Physics Department (1956-1960), and Dean of the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (1960-1981) at North Carolina State University. He created and became the first Dean of the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences at North Carolina State University. Menius provided early support of the Research Triangle Park and the work he did to bring creditability and funding to the fledgling Research Triangle Institute, a non-profit research contracting agency in the park, was influential in the park's development. He researched decay of positions in various metals and other materials and consulted on nuclear and rocket science matters with the United States Army, Navy, and industry.
