Biographical notes:

Southern Baptist pastor, editor, and leader of the fundamentalist movement among Southern Baptists in the period 1910 to his death in 1952.

He was a graduate of Baylor University and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He served as editor and owner of the Baptist Standard, the Baptist paper of Texas during 1908-1909. Norris served as pastor of the First Baptist Church of Ft. Worth, Texas from 1909 until his death in 1952. In 1935 he became pastor of the Temple Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan and remained in that position until 1950. In 1917, he began publishing the newspaper the Searchlight (later renamed the Fundamentalist).
