London-born Arthur Cecil Blunt adopted the professional name Arthur Cecil upon making his professional acting debut in 1869. A reliable performer, he played numerous popular roles on the English stage, including several he originated. He also wrote plays and popular music, and worked behind the scenes for various theatres.
