Biography
Britain was born on March 17, 1903 in Amarillo, Tex.; she studied piano and received her B.M. from the American Conservatory in Chicago, 1924; studied music theory in Munich; several of her choral compositions were awarded prizes of the National Federation of Music Clubs, the National League of American Penwomen and other organizations; compositions include A heroic poem, Light, Ubiquity (music drama), Southern symphony, Chipmunks for woodwinds, harp, and percussion, two string quartets, and several song cycles; she died on May 23, 1994 in Palm Desert, Calif.
