Biographical notes:

Dorothy Harvey Leonard is a Quaker and worked as a psychiatric nurse from 1946 until her retirement in 1987. She graduated from the Olney School in Barnesville, Ohio, earned an R.N. diploma from Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing, followed by a B.S. and M.S. from the University of Pennsylania. She worked at a number of hospitals and other facilities including Pennsylvania Hospital for the Insane. In retirement, she is the family historian, creating A Quaker Family Calendar, 1988-2001. Her parents, Cyril H. and Ruth S. Thorp Harvey were teachers in many Friends schools. Her paternal grandparents were Adolphus and Lyra Tregelles Harvey. Adolphus was the son of Cyrus W. Harvey, Quaker minister from Kansas. Her maternal grandparents were George Smedley and Anne Palmer Thorp, long-time residents of Media, Pa. Related families include Carter, Tregelles, Thorp, Palmer, and Sharpless.
