Biographical notes:

Angela Du Maurier (1904-2002), writer, was born in London, and was the eldest of the actor Gerald du Maurier's three daughters, and sister of Daphne, the writer, and Jeanne, the artist. She originally, following the family tradition, planned to become an actor and spent two seasons on the stage. A change of career saw her turn to writing and her first novel 'The Perplexed Heart' was published in 1939. She published eleven books in total, including two volumes of autobiography, 'It's Only the Sister' (1951) and 'Old Maids Remember' (1966). Her works of fiction include 'The Road to Leenane', 'Pilgrims by the Way', 'Reveille', and 'Treveryan'. She lived at Ferryside, the family house in Cornwall, for most of her life.

Nothing is known about Mrs Powers. The letter suggests she is an admirer of Angela Du Maurier's writing.
