Biographical notes:
Benedict College founded in 1870 under the auspices of the American Home Missionary Society of the Baptist Church as Benedict Institute when Mrs. Bathsheba A. Benedict of Pawtucket, R.I., gave the society $5,000, a small bequest from her husband; originally designed to educate ministers and teachers the institution is now independent. Office of Business Affairs is the operational unit of the institution that is responsible for the administration and management of the financial resources.
