Jessup, Thomas Sidney 1788-1860.
Biographical notes:
Thomas Jessup was a general during the Second Seminole War. He is most famous for capturing Seminole leader Osceola under a flag of truce in 1837. After Osceola's capture Jessup continued the war effort, fighting the Battle of Loxahatchee in January of 1838. By May of that year Jessup asked and was granted relief of command by Zachary Taylor.
