The property known as Macomb's Purchase was first obtained from New York by Alexander Macomb who then assigned Great Tracts I, II, and III to Daniel McCormick and IV, V, and VI to William Constable of New York. William Constable obtained Tracts II and III from McCormick and with Tract IV, sold them to James Donatianus Le Ray de Chaumont, Junior, also known as James LeRay, Junior of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and France, in 1800. James LeRay also promoted the development of the Antwerp Company Property.
