Biographical notes:
During World War I William Anthony Temple served as a private with Headquarters Section Detachment #8 of the Army Service Corps' engineering division, stationed in Gièvres, France. During his enlistment he helped produce the newspaper "La Crois de Gievres" for his engineering post. Before the war he had worked as a sign painter for Younker Brothers Department Store in Des Moines. After the war he returned to the store and worked for many years as newsletter editor and graphic arist.
