Biographical notes:

Josiah Emery was born in New Hampshire and settled in Aurora in 1812. He served as a lieutenant in the state militia during the War of 1812. His son Josiah, a deputy sheriff, assessor and justice of the peace, farmed family land in South Wales, N.Y. Josiah's son Edward K. served as a judge of the Erie County Court.
